What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the teeth to change their color, shape or size. Traditionally they are as thin as a contact lens and cover the front and biting edge of the teeth. They can be used to close gaps and spaces between teeth, correct crowding, and color of teeth, and lengthen short or worn teeth. They provide strength equal to natural enamel and fit over your teeth to appear entirely natural.

Usually, the teeth must be reshaped to some degree so that the porcelain veneers are not bulky and over-contoured. Part of the outer enamel is removed to allow space for the porcelain which allows the teeth to be straightened. We permanently bond the porcelain veneer to the underlying tooth. Once bonded onto the tooth, they are super durable and very long-lasting. Porcelain veneers never discolor and are more stain resistant than natural enamel.
